RN09: KHERRATA GORGE DEVELOPMENT WORKS
– Drafting of the National Route 9 (RN9) improvement project between Bordj Mira and Kherrata in the valley traversed by the Agrioun River, in a highly mountainous environment.
– The project aims to widen the 150-year-old road to meet the dimensions established by standards for the safe passage of heavy goods vehicles.
– The route was defined with the objective of preserving as much of the old alignment and the historical engineering structures built between 1863 and 1925 as possible.
– Due to significant topographical and geological constraints, 15.45% of the route will require earthworks, while the remaining 84.55% will require additional structures to enable the two-lane road section.
